Ghost Resevoir - has anyone had any luck
I only have a few free hours this weekend and was thinking of just heading to Ghost as it's 10 minutes from my house. I've seen ice shacks out there, what are people catching these days (if anything...I know Ghost can be really slow).

Thanks! Are you just using smelts? I haven't checked the Regulations for Ghost yet, I was going to do that when I got home tonight.

You can use minnows there if you wanted, although smelts work just fine. I use a 2" buzz bomb. Watch out for the weekend traffic, so don't setup on the packed road.

LOL, no. Typing from phone.
I meant. Lakers on the north side, sharp drop off, in deep water. Go early and avoid setting up right on the travelled road and "race track".
Approximately here: Ghost drop ~100 FOW

It means that you should learn spelling/grammar of some sort.
Yes, I know an English teacher is going to find something wrong with this post and make sure I know that I am a hypocrite.

All over. You don't use a flasher? Ghost is a tough lake to fish. Many holes need to be drilled. Lots of depth changes and watching the flasher is the only way you're going to have luck.

One of the best ways to understand Ghost is to walk the shoreline on a comfy day when the level is still low (you'll also find tons o'lures snagged in rocks). Come Spring/Summer/Fall you'll know those areas where a decent hole or undercut is. Ghost takes work and worth it once you get the knack.
In Winter and if you don't use electronics, it takes a scientific approach,,, go with a group and make a line of holes with a different rig at various depths and get scientific, for lack of better words. The great thing about Ghost is that it tempers a dedicated sort of fisherman and after hours of "I wonder if I try this way instead?" you start to catch.
Hey Stang,
your camera shows both depth and temperature, how deep can it go and have you ever found 42f in lake trout waters?
try a silver tear drop in 40 FOW or a swedish pimple with the tail piece of a minnow for a start.

Ya i do use a flasher. and usually ill start to see fish on it within the first 10 holes but cant get them to bite or chase my bait. they must not like what ive got. usually try a tube jig with minnow all sizes but mostly white but have tried other colours. also use all sorts of spoons. jig heads with minnows, powerbait. almost everything. went out yesterday tried buzzbombs and still skunked. its not too far away so ill probably hit it a few more times this winter. i havent caught anything there this winter but i have only been looking for the lakers. might give it a go for some whites and burbot one evening.
