Very minimal snow. Some drifting but maybe 2 inches of hard packed snow in most places

Wind came up around 2 this afternoon and the ice got VERY noisy ! Had a good day after I had to round trip back to the truck for my transducer ! Ended up with 17 landed , 9 were 70-74 and one was 78, only 2 chased. All others were on bottom. Ice was 14"

Watch out for monster drifts and chucks of ice that look like drifts, my back is still sore.

Be careful to people going out next few days. There was a big crack that opened up today on the west side if the lake. Stretches across all of English bay and then back out into the middle of the lake to the east. Then it stretches along the shore to the north. Took me 2 1/2 hours to finally find a way off the lake today. Thanks to a nice gentlemen who knew his buddy had a "road" up to his house. Would never have found that without him.
Be safe out there.

Default Ice Crack

Hey Simmerd...I was out there yesterday also with some buddies off of English Bay. We were on sleds about a mile out off shore....when that big crack happened in the afternoon it sure made us all have a bit of a pucker factor.

Because we were on sleds we were able to just give it some gas and get over the crack but a vehicle would have probably went through. I would say on average the crack was about a couple meters wide of ice/water. It looked as if one giant sheet of ice had separated from the ice along the shore.

Glad to hear that everyone got off the lake ok...even if it took a while. Be careful everyone. BTW fishing was ok...kinda slow...but they sure are fun to catch!!!

Yeah I have to say there was a pucker factor big time when that happened. I actually took my girls out of our tent just in case. Lol
I will be using my rhino a lot more on the north end of the lake I think in the future. Hahaha
Pretty sure I saw your group out there that day. Glad you guys got off okay as well.
Fishing for us was okay. I was letting my daughter jig my rod and she actually caught the biggest fish of the day at 72cms! Lol

Marina, French bay and provincial park have all had trucks on them for a couple weeks now. I'd imagine French bay is around 20 inches by now and the marina was at 17 inches last weekend. North side of the lake would be a bit thinner still I would imagine. Probobly only about 12 inches over there is my guess. Everywhere I've heard is solid black ice all the way.. Definatly another good year of ice making weather for cold lake!

Pretty slow from what I've heard. Was decent mid week but I'm finding it very slow this morning... I'm in the Eskimo fat fish with the silver gmc Sierra beside it if any is in front of the marina... Feel free to pop in and say hi!
