Let's talk sunglasses

A few years ago I picked up my first pair of expensive sunglasses (Oakley gascan). I was shocked at how well the black polarized lenses helped me see under the surface of the water. I'm long overdue for a new pair and was wondering what everyone one thinks is the best tint for fishing? So post up what you guys are currently wearing and/or recommendations!

I went with the blue tint on my Oakley's when I bought a pair.
I got the Flak Jacket 2.0
I find them to be pretty good

I have had a pair of the Oakleys with copper colored reader lens on the bottom for about 6 years, pretty happy with them.

Oakley has two lenses just for fishing. Shallow blue and deep blue.
I went with shallow blue.

I lose too many of them, so i pick up 3 or 4 every year for 20 bucks each at the College of the desert fair in palm springs. LOL

Smith with polarized cromo pop lens have them and by far best fishing glasses i have had. 240$ worth every penny

Amber/rose is a good all-around lens that provides good contrast, particularly in rivers or variable light conditions (like tree foliage).
Blue/grey is good for bright, open water conditions.
Green provides good contrast in low light conditions.

I have 5 pairs of sunglasses. If I had to choose one pair, I would opt for the amber/rose lens. Like I said, the only environment where they do not excel are bright, open conditions or low light (like spring rain or the hour 30 minutes before/after dawn/dusk). Otherwise, for 80%+, the amber/rose are ideal.

I agree that amber seems to be the best all around tint. When I was in Belise, the guide there told me they all wore Smith sunglasses. Before I bought mine I tried many different brands and finally decided on Costa sunglasses. If you watch tv shows where they do lots of flats fishing, you will see many people wearing Costa glasses.Cabelas carries them, but do not have a large selection. My advice would be that regardless of the brand you decide on, make sure they wrap around so they block the light from getting in behind.

I have a couple pairs of Maui Jims that are very good.

I read on other forums how impressive the Smiths are and that they are polarized using a different method. Instead of a film added to the lens that deteriorates over time the polarization is some how built in.

I also read that the Chromopop technology was second to none, including Costa, at a lower cost. There is a proven science behind the technology if one reads enough or talks to an eye professional.

I purchased the Frontman Chromopops and couldn't be happier. They provide move peripheral protection and fit my face perfect. I can't shake them off but they are light and comfortable.

I bought the brown lens that was recommended for our waters. They blow away the Maui Jims for sight fishing. For seeing into the depths and spotting fish, Maui Jims are not even close to the Chromopops. I do notice a bit of eye strain with the Smiths however and switch to the Maui Jims for driving and general use.

I have only had the Smiths a short time but so far am extremely impressed. For a dedicated river/stream fishing glasses I would highly recommend them. For a day at the beach or open water boating in bright conditions I would go Maui Jims or perhaps a darker lens in the Smiths.

I have read nothing but good about the Costas as well but have never tried them. The salt water folks really seem to like them.

I use cheap $23 fit overs from shoppers drugs/walmart.

Work great. Cheap so taking two pair is no problem. When I was done fishing in Cuba I gave a pair to the guide.

Scratch or lose and you don't cry. Comes in many different sizes and lens colours. Gray and amber. Amber great on the flats. Gray great on lakes.

Look up prime shades, you can totally customize them how you want and they are a bit cheaper with the same quality in my opinion!
