Wow! I seen some jumbo last weekend in the shallows in weeds but couldn't get them to come bite.

Try a one inch minnow on a 1/32 or 1/64 ounce jig head. spot cast.
The perch will pick up the minnow and swim a few feet before inhaling the minnow. Hook the minnow thru the eyes.

Thanks for the good advice I'll try it next time. The water was so shallow I just scared them as I slowly cast a shadow and drifted over them

Awesome. We used to catch nice ones like that at Lac Des Isles in Saskatchewan years and years ago. I have heard they are gone now.
