Goldeye like anything from bait on P rigs to spinners and spoons to flies and streamers.. I have even caught them on orange peels drifted on a single hook.

Goldeye like the edges of fast and calm water but can be anywhere.

good luck

I have a hard time keeping them off.

As Red Bullets said they will pretty much take anything that is put in front of them.

Head down the stairs at maskepetoon park, turn left towards the river when you are down them. Once at the river, turn left again and walk downstream 50-100 yards on the rocks.
I catch 10 goldeye for every walleye on this section.
530 am to 9 am is good.
830 pm to 1030 pm is excellent fishing.
It's a great spot for fly fishing too if you can keep your line up high while casting.

As per the op, around here I have the best of luck with yellow bodied spinners, 1/8 ounce in weight. Red works well too.
For spoons I use a small 5 of diamonds.

Small hook and small bait. they don't have big nor deep mouths.
