Default When I go fishing my main goal is limit out or have fun?

What is your primary goal? Is it to have fun and see the outdoors? Is it to catch fish but not necessarily keep your limit? Is it to keep your limit and fill the freezer so to speak?

Let's do another poll that we all desire once again to read and fill in

When I go out I am looking to have a good time and explore areas.
I havent killed a fish in ages.
I like to catch fish and explore new creeks and rivers.
Basically being outdoors with friends.

why in the poll does it say "keep your limit and stock the freezer so to speak" why can't you just say keep your limit and stock the freezer?

I'm just out there for kicks...if I was looking to catch my limit (or anything for that matter) I'd be in a sad state of affairs

a little pot helps too...

Caught a baby walleye the other day--about 5" long--it was so CUTE, I wanted to bring it home and put it in the aquarium Thank God for barbless hooks...it came out easily and the baby was released back to his watery home--hopefully not to be pike food!

I just try to catch as many as possible and not kill any, unless the wife wants some for dinner that is then I might keep one.

Interesting how the majority of respondents state their main interest is to have a good time...not get skunked and maybe eat a few.

At the same time the most vocal opponents to a prolonged harvest on put and take ponds is people wanting to catch and kill their limit. 5 trout a day versus 2 in a prolonged harvest scenario.

I am not trying to say anything other than to think maybe we have two very distinct groups of fishermen in Alberta. One that predominantly fishes stocked ponds and receive the majority of the value for cost of such stocking and those that fish more natural lakes and rivers for a variety of species. Hard to really show that.

Still very encouraging to see most people see the sport for what it is...recreational fun and an escape from the worries at home and work. I for one forget about all the troubles and focus only on fish. That really feeds and refreshes the soul IMHO.

Our biggest goal is just to get outside and commune with nature. Sad but true. We're terrible anglers, and if our trips were about catching anything we wouldn't still be planning them! Only have one more trip planned this year (for September long), but we'll be back with a vengeance next year
