Red Deer River pics
Another day on the river...The Walleye was aprox 25'' (63 cm), and the Goldeye was aprox 16'' (40 cm). Unfortunately no scale to weigh them 
Hope the pics work alright.

That WAS a nice-looking fish. Considering that it is probably belly-up by now from thrashing around the rocks before you took the picture.

Nothing wrong with that picture, wet shoreline, just a foot away from flowing water, and that fish looks to be in very good condition apart from taking that rapala a bit deeper. But what is a guy to do???? I'm sure it happens to all of us from time to time.
How about we take the hooks off the lures and just count strikes???

Its not as bad as it looks at first glance. The treble hook on the belly of the lure is in the front of the mouth, as well as the dorsal hook but on the roof of the mouth. And yes fish was about a foot away from the water. Camera was ready so that also made for a quick retrieve and release.

To bad they weren't caught at the same time you could have stuffed the goldeye in the walleye's mouth and took a pic before sending him on his way  that would get some responses  really nice walley

Buckmaster and Tbone, don't let the self-righteous-big-mouthed-idiots get to you. I have posted pics that have been criticized and I just calmly assured the poster that despite what he believed, the fish were just fine and thanks for his concern.
The poster who through the use of his crystal-ball just knows, absolutely knows, that every fish that has it's picture taken has died a slow and painful death..... well, they are entitled to their opinion, and they are wrong.
If you have done nothing to be ashamed of, then don't be ashamed or act like you are; don't get defensive and go off on a diatribe, or call the idiot "an idiot", just smile and nod and do whatever the hell you were going to do anyways.
FWIW, the poster who commented on my pics was fairly polite in his concern for my handling of the fish, so I was more then accommodating in addressing his concerns. Had he just spewed ignorance like some (cough*above*cough) I would either have ignored him or expressed my desire for him to read my future.
Also, sometimes people do not know any better in their handling of a fish they will release and might benefit from some helpful hints on how not to hurt a fish you want to release. There was a post a couple days ago about a fellow who had a sturgeon out of the water for 8 minutes! Now sturgeon are a tough fish, and I have known them to survive much rougher handling, but still in this day and age, on a fish that is protected, there is no reason to NOT say something.

I am very new to fishing. My wife and I have just started. Those are great fish. I hope to someday have the knowledge/skill to catch fish like that. Thanks for sharing.
