Default Mono line for casting

Looking to respool my lightweight spinning reel for trout . I use mostly small spinners { panther Martins} and spoons , what is your favorite line in 6# range ?

If you're really set on mono Trilene XL.

That said I still prefer braided line. My light rigs have 10lb PowerPro (2lb mono diameter) 'just in case' though you could still go lighter. I then use about 4' fluoro leader...usually 4 or 6 pound depending on what I'm targeting.

Avoid Berkley NanoFil like the plague.

I like Berkley Big Game line for pretty much everything, its flexible enough but still abrasion resistant, and $10 bucks gets you a bulk spool.

Good to know...I've been using the heavier (30-40lb) Big Game for a few years with good results but have never tried the lighter stuff.

Tectan. Is my favorite and probably the best mono.(use mostly for walleye), but would be awesome for trout too.

However, most monos are pretty good. I even use Crappie line from cabelas/bass pro in bulk, for my ultralites(4lb). inexpensive and I change line frequently so it isnt to hard on the pocket book.

I prefer mono for trout fishing. You can add fluoro leader if you wish too.

Have had no issues with the Crappie line.(again I only use the 4lb test).
