Default Lake Newell Was Good To Me Today

So the work gods smiled on me today and a friend and I were able to hit up Newell today for some fishing fun. Saw a few small schools of whites with no luck but managed to get 9 pike and 3 walleye today. Including my biggest pike in recent memory as well as my biggest walleye in several years. What a beauty day for fishing today. Couldnt ask for a better day!

Since i dont have a trolling motor we tied up 2 plastic garbage pails (cause im classy like that) to the boat slow us down. It worked like a dream. Only got tangled in the prop once all day!

All the fish were caught in 15-19 feet of water and a medium (I think) trolling speed with a rapala x-rap perch pattern

All fish were released to be caught another day (even though I REALLY REALLY wanted to eat the walleyes)

Enjoy!

Nice work. I don't have a trolling motor either. A great alternative is a drift sock. They are around $50-$60 at the outdoor stores. I troll while pulling a drift sock to slow me down. Works perfectly. My boats slowest speed is around 3mph and the sock pulls me down around 1mph. A little more throttle need to geth up to 2.3ish miles per hour and bobs your uncle
