Default Pronghorn antelope shot

Fish and Wildlife officers in southeastern Alberta are looking for someone who has been taking potshots at pronghorn antelope.

Two pregnant doe were found dead on Crown land earlier this week northeast of Medicine Hat. Officials say the shots likely came from a high-powered rifle.

"It appears the person had no real reason to kill them," said Brendan Cox with the province's Fish and Wildlife Department. "Other than some form of inappropriate recreation."

Officials say they believe the shots were fired from a vehicle from the road.

Cox says this is the third incident of pronghorns being shot in this area in the last six months.

Just plain stupid and senseless is all I can say.2 pregnant antelope does shot for sport or sh!ts & giggles. In my mind that is 4 dead antelope which wont flourish and multiply which say in 10 years might make antelope an alternative to deer.Of course it is more ammunition to the Anti's to mouth off about.Such absolute stupidity makes me sick.

Antelope are mighty tasty. I could see someone poaching them for the meat; still not okay, but at least understandable. Just shooting them for a cheap thrill doesn't make sense in my book.
