Whats wrong with this walleye?

We caught this walleye last weekend at devils lake by onoway. It did put up a great fight and seemed healthy but what are those red dots or whatever they are on it? We didn't want to touch it with bare hands that's why we held it with plyers.

If your not going to keep him for your plate, pliers in the mouth probably isn't the best way to pick him up, the spots won't get ya.

We usually hold them properly. This one we did not want to mess with since we didnt know what those spots were..hence the pliers.

Ya, I gotcha. I figured I'd try to say it politely before you get roasted for it. The sores aren't contagious to humans, really common in northern lakes.
