Default Lake Newell Fall Pike

Wife & I were there Mon in the wind. Whitecaps & 3 footers to start, when the wind went down enough to troll, wife caught 6, I got 4, in an hour fishing. Get out & wet a line once more before it's rifle time. Good luck!

Default Had Good Results At Newell Also

-- fished Saturday 31 and 1/2 day on Sunday the 1st

-- looking for the big walleye, bottom bounced and jig/minnow all of Saturday and the morning on Sunday

-- 12 walleye, nothing big

-- spent two hours for pike, that is where all the action was, almost non stop,
trolling the biggest Len Thompsons you can get

-- convinced the wife to stay for the next day, no luck

-- we are from Red Deer and hopefully the ones that live within 30 minute of
Newell, realize how lucky you are with such a great lake nearby

-- we will be back in October for the big ones, and now she is hooked on pike,
hopefully I will be allowed to fish for walleye, haha

Default What Depth Did You Find Them At

-- not really that simple

-- you have to find steep drop offs adjacent to the buffet food, forage fish, find the drop off and then we fished/trolled in 8 to 12 feet of water

-- best area we found was in 15 feet of water with vegetation coming 6 to 8 feet off the bottom,

-- not solid weed growth but what shows up as individual weed(s) growth

hope this helps

As others said, we found them in the drop-offs on the edge of the islands east side of the lake, anywhere from 6-15 feet. They were really biting, wife had one on 25 feet from the end of the boat, I didn't even have my line in the water yet. Good luck!
