Default Moose on the Golf Course

We had 4 Moose show up this morning on the Sylvan G&CC, the 2 young calf's were on our side of the fence while the Bull & Cow were practicing their putting. Had to open up the gate on 53 Ave for the 2 Calf's to get reunited, must of been stress out they went straight into the pond for a drink before they all left, believe they had the first t-time.

A few pic's ... enjoy.

Yup ... the golf course maintenance staff are trying to round the 4 of them up and evict them off the golf course due to the damage they're causing to the greens .... looks like the Calgary Stampede round-up out there ....LOL.

Great pictures. So how many think the two small ones are Calf moose and how many think they aren't.

No moose tag .... still waiting to see if Brutus shows up this year.

The neighbor said the calves were on our side of the fence all night, his motion detector was going on & off. After we opened up the gate on 53 ave and chased the 2 back on to the golf course they both went straight for the pond water'd up then one went over to the Cow and tried to suckle from Mama, they were stressed & happy to be reunited. I'm guessing she will be chasing them off in the weeks ahead.

D.

Google says ....

Calves remain with their mother until the cow begins estrus (typically at 18 months after birth of the calf), at which point the cow chases away any young bulls.

Twin calves are generally born once every three years, otherwise a single calf is born. are 3 years old. Cows generally have calves every year, twins every three years, otherwise a single calf is born.

Separating the Cow from the Calves is a strategy males of all species have used since the beginning of time.

Lets face it, kids really put a damper on the love life no matter what their age.

Definitely calves. Look at their faces. Just cause wikinonsense or google says they only have twins every 3 years doesn't make it true. I have hunted a property that had a cow who had twin bulls every year. She was treated with the utmost respect I tell you. A gold mine on the hoof.

I'd would see any warden in court who tried to charge me with either one of those not being calves. BUT that is why I never put in for a calf tag

Bty day, was out on the course this morning, this foursome decided to play through on #8, the Cow looked nervous, she stopped, put her ears down and the Bull turned around and stopped & just stared at us, we were walking & got out of there quick.
