Default Upper and Lower Kananaskis lakes. Aug 2 - 5 2013

Over the long weekend I had a chance to fish both of the lakes, from multiple places on shore. Left empty handed. We did see fish jumping for flies like crazy during the evening, just before sunset. We were spin casting, but they weren't interested.

I did get a fish on the line at the Lower lake TransAlta power station spillway using a spoon, but it snapped my 10lb line and took the lure. Felt like a big fish. I may have just tied a crappy knot as well.

We did see 5 bears though. One small Blackbear, one solo Grizzly, one Grizzly mother bear with 2 cubs.

I'm thinking I just don't know how to catch trout.

If you had a fish on... you know how to fish. You'll be aight - go again. Try some mepps spinners as well and make sure your allowing the hooks to sink as deep as they can before reeling in.

Those lakes take a lot of patience. I was out there from the 1st to the 6th. We averaged 3-4 fish a day. We fished both upper and lower lakes trolling.
