Default Moose 339

I have hunted 339 last season. Saw lots of small whitetail does and a few spike bucks.
The deer were very nervous , we seen lots of wolfs. I shot a nice wolf in october. But I haven't seen 1 moose which is odd cause I used to see at least a few every season.

Hope this helps.

Default moose

I see that draw code because I saw that looking in my zones, but when I look at the first page that shows seasons and zones, there are reduced zone numbers listed and 339 ( as well as the 350's) are not shown there.

http://albertaregulations.ca/pdfs/hu...oose-Draws.pdf

This is what I was looking at.

Split seasons are on page 2 of 6.
It is there, the split for 339.

Certain parts of 339 can be a hard place to hunt. Lots of lease road activity (oil works, hunters, quads ), but if you do not mine walking you can see moose & deer. I wont tell you where but I see them.

However as was mentioned they can spook easy & more so now in areas because last year 4x4 pickups have taken to cut-line where pipe was once laid & well hunting there is now not the same.

Remember 339 is a fair size & I wish you all the best.

I found that in areas where the deer spook as soon as they see a vehicle, that if you park say 200 yards or so from that spot where you seen them & walk back following the tree line that they may just come back out or you might just see them just in the trees.

Or they rarely ever see folks on foot & so they sometimes just stand there & stare at you. 5 out of the last 7 WT deer I took out of 339 were all between 12 yards to 40 yards looking at me & me at them, the other two were 72 yards & 158 yards......only the 72 yard deer never knew I was there.

What you odd to think about doing is to go out there for a weekend trip or two & find an area & see what the deer/moose track situation is like in some oil/gas wells, check for a water hole, food & a good place to put a tree stand if you have one or can get a hold of one.

Even a trail camera but you better hope no new oil well is going up or good-bye trail camera.

Mark that spot with ribbon & go back there the next weekend with a latter tree stand or a seat tree stand & just sit there.......maybe bring a trail camera & place it somewhere where there is a deer freeway. See what comes your way.

2012 will be 31 years hunting in 339. 5 times have not got a moose. you won't find them very often on the roads anymore, but if you get down a cutline and into the bush you will have good luck. Like someone else said go out scouting and even if you can find one set of tracks you should be able to find something shootable.(with some work at it).
