Default Lapua 30-06 brass dimension needed

Does anyone have some of this brass that they can take a measurement on for me? I’m looking for the largest case diameter at the head. Not the rim, but the head. If you let your calliper half overhang the extractor groove that should get the measurement I need. Thanks!

No, just comparing domestic and foreign brass. The domestic stuff is .004 to .005 smaller it seems.

That is a really big variation. Which one matches the SAAMI specs of .4698 the best?

Lapua.

I found out that Norma is four thousandths under as well. I have Lapua brass but wondered if my lot was unique. It’s not apparently.

Does anyone have Nosler brass that they can measure?

Exclamation Basic case dimensions

The Speer #14 Reloading Manual includes cartridge drawings with referenced dimensions used by the U.S. firearms industry. Check your cases against these numbers:
Case diameter 0.200" from the base- 0.4698"
Case diameter 1.850" from the base- 0.4426"

If your sizing die is not accomplishing this with the Lapua cases, what about sizing them with an RCBS Small Base sizing die?

ETA- I type too slow, just check them against the drawing that Dean2 posted.

Norma makes almost all of Nosler's standard Cartridges, including Weatherby, there are only a couple that Nosler make themselves.

Norma, Hornady, RP, and WW are all around .465/66. Lapua is .469/70

There is a very good reason Lapua is considered premium brass, this is just one more example of their exacting production standards. Explains why yyou never see case head separation on Lapua brass. Whereas many manufacturers focus on building stuff that will fit anything, Lapua builds for stuff that is built right. Interesting part is Lapua is a lot cheaper than Nosler and Norma and not a lot more expensive than WW or Remington.

My Nosler 30-06 brass is .470
Federal factory 30-06 ammo in the cabinet is .466

FWIW, my Lapua and Peterson brass for 7mm-08 both measure .470
