Default Reloading powder question?

Looking for IMR 4895, anyone know of anywhere or anyone that has some? Also if I can't find it has anyone tried IMR 4064 for a 30-06 150gr

I'm also reloading a .223 4350 work well there? The reason I'm asking is cause I have a friend that reloads and he is going to show me a few things and help me load my own. I just have to supply my own stuff. He doesn't shoot a .223 or 30-06 so has no experience for what works well for those

Default pet load for every 30-06 I have ever owned and my sons

IMR 4350 but you would have to work it up gradually for your rifle. Both my son and my current 30-06 likes 56 grains. Start at 53 and work up in .5 grain increments until you find the sweet spot.
Use lots of IMR 4895 but only for my 223 and 22-250

I would not bother with any 4895 (hodgdon or IMR) for 150 grain projectiles. I find that H4350 works best for 150/165 grain projectiles. It fills the case a bit more than IMR 4350 and produces similar velocities, along with good accuracy.

If you must know, I have used H4895 in the 30-06 but I paired it with a 125 grain Ballistic Tip. I find it works best in this pairing than with a 150 grain BT. This may be a good option for the 223, if you are looking for a one powder fits all kind of a deal. Powders like Varget, 4064, etc would work here as well. It all depends on your preference and what the desired outcome is from the reloads.

Check Hodgdon's load data, see if there is any data that may be useful to you.

Good Luck

I concur.

Except, if a M1 Garand is involved.
Then stick with the 4895.

As an aside.
I'd be looking at Swampdonkeyoutdoors, ad in the buy sell, they have powder.

Cabela's north Edm had IMR 4895 in stock today, and a lot of other stuff as well, at pretty reasonable prices. Also had 8 lbers of 4350 and a couple of others. Most under $40 a pound.

I see Swamp Donkey advertising IMR 4895 in stock. Martin is great to deal with and I know he ships as well.
