Here is a tip I got from a nurse at Foothills hosp.

get a small blanket or towel. fold it up

hold tight to your chest with both arms when you have to cough or sneeze

still hurts but man not nearly as much

Default ribs

I took a spiill and busted two ribs. Took me 6 weeks to start feeling mostly good again. I had no choice but to heal fast - I had a fly fishing trip booked down South.
Big thing the doc said was to make sure to take the pain meds as needed so that the breathing would not be so shallow as to cause the ribs to heal in a wrong position.
A few months later I got my first case of gout. Wowzers. I wished I could have traded that for the broken ribs again.

Ironically, |I am one who suffers from Gout,I will agree with you. Broken ribs is horrible but Goout can be the worst pain imaginable.

Wait until you've had a kidney stone. You know its bad when you actually happy to see that you've pee'd blood......

Id rather have a broken rib and gout at the same time than another kidney stone.
