Default Arrow Rest Help

All my hunting has been shooting arrows inside 40yds. All my archery hunting has been Whisker Biscuit. But my heavier style arrows these days are almost too much weight and find I am having to prop up the arrow at times.

If I switch to a drop away style, what is a good one with similar style containment for walk and stalk and tree stand hunting that I can flip up in the cocked position and shoot.

I like simple things. My brother came bear hunting one time and two hour drive later, go to practice a quick arrow at 30yds and his rest fell apart on him. So he used my bowtech with a whisker.

Hesitant to get away from the trusty, but feel I have to with 900gr of weight.

Obsession Huracon 80Lb
32" DL
.150 spine Black Eagle Rampage
.292 Alpha Alien archery bhead

Please share what works for you.

I would take a look at a Rip Cord drop away. You don’t have to draw back to lift the drop away like others. You can manually lift the drop away and it will stay up, put an arrow in and it’s contained.

Default Qad

If you have a look in the for sale area here, there is a QAD HDX that would fit your needs well. I run QAD and Hamskea. Both work well

Yep, and same with the QAD line of rests. Some options out there for you OP.

I just recently had to use a QAD lifetime warranty because my 13 year old rest failed me. 15 minutes after arriving at Jim Bows, I left with a brand new QAD rest on my bow, all covered under the lifetime warranty. Can't say enough about Jim Bows and QAD for their service!

But 900 gr of weight! Planning on shooting the rarely seen Alberta Elephant? Wow.

Another nod for the QAD.

Yeah, blowing thru elk and bear shoulders is the intent(if the animal moves plan for worst). I was recommended .150 spine arrows to go with the 32" DL. So I figured may as well get ready for hippo. All close shots so poking 2 holes has been my absolute priority.

Any ripcord guys on here???
Look simple too.

Yep I’m running the ripcord code red X on my bowtech. Nothing fancy but it works well and I’ve had no issues. I’m a fan. I like being able to manually flip up the rest as well.

Have been using QAD drop away rests for year's and they have performed flawlessly for me. Have never needed to mount my backup whisker biscuit.
Very simple user friendly rest.
I also have a 32" draw length with 80lb limbs.

My total arrow weight is just under 430 gr, nothing super heavy. Using 100gr fixed bh's.
Meant to type in my draw length is 30" and not 32".
This weight has worked very well for me on everything from deer to bull moose/elk sized game.

I have ran the QAD rests on 3 different bows and they have performed well for me.
Sounds like there are some other good options posted by other members as well.

Default Ripcord

Thanks everyone for input. I found a new ripcord code red as Byron neighbour uses one and says its great. 99$ at cabelas. Gonna dip my toes in fall away world and see if I like it. Then go full Hamskea or something later. I am very hesitant to get away from my grampa whisker.

Thanks all. Shoot tight!
