Default Boat Value ?

The market for boats seems out of control, I am pondering selling one of my boats.... It is a 2018 Lund 1875 Impact with a Honda 150 with approximately 50 hours on it. Minn Kota I pilot 24 volt with on board charger, Hummingbird Helix 7 up front with the factory hummingbird mounted on the dash. All covers never used as it has been stored indoors, basically mint condition. Tandem Lund matching trailer.

What would be a fair price for this particular boat ?

I have, I think the pricing is out of control... Buddy is throwing around buying it, he offered over 15 grand more than I have into this one, dealers are higher by a lot than what has been offered.

HMMMM. If you like your friend sell it to him. Maybe say I'll cut you a deal and take $7500 off the price. If you just want the money.... then the Dealer. Then you, can be the stealer.

Be honest with your buddy. Tell him what the dealer is offering no way should he expect you to sell it to him for 15K less.

If he does expect a beyond sweet deal from you

this is basically a DREAM fish and ski boat..... it's basically new...... I wouldn't be surprised to see someone pay 75k for it, with all the rigging that you've done to it.

25k is a fair price if I buy it. That is an awesome boat and I wish you didn’t have to sell it. You’re probably looking 70-75 at least. Boats set up like that aren’t for sale too often so you could probably get more even than what you expect. I’m jealous. Good luck.

You know what you paid for it . Take $1000. off for every year you owned it .
Then sell it to your buddy on the condition he takes you out once a year .

Just remember that the price of aluminum has tripled in price so an older boat will still hold and have value. What you paid for it nock a couple grand off and sell it for a price your happy with.

Retired now but worked in retail management for years. Sell it for a price the market will bare. Many times we sold items that the cost was $100 more and we sold it for 4k$ more. Buyer beware....

Assuming you paid around $55K-$60K in 2018? and Todays brand new replacement is $90-$95K? then you could split the difference and get $70-$75 in my opinion. (these numbers are educated guesses but you get my point)

I have a 2013 1800 Lund Tyee w/150hp Honda and 9.9Honda (also fully equipped) and bought it for $45K ...... can get over $65K for it right now. Problem is a new one is well over $110K.

So unless you are giving up fishing and wanting a boat I'd hold onto it. Especially if you have taken care of it.

But yeah ..........boat prices are ridiculous. I would have NEVER believed I would get FAR MORE than I paid for the boat 10 years later !!!!! just crazy !!!!

Thanks everyone for the comments, this boat fell into my hands late in 2018 as a fire sale. I had purchased a 2018 Lund Tyee 2075 that spring so really had no use for this cross over but could not turn the boat down.

With the addition of some extra electronics and a couple other items, I am into this boat for around 32 K. Mulled it over yesterday and decided to pass along the boat to my friend for what I have into it.

I'm still shocked at what the dealers are selling these for, the two I talked with put a price north of 50 on the boat. Crazy times we live in... Tight lines everyone !

wow, your friend got a super deal here. He better take you on some deep fishing trip somewhere nice and warm, all inclusive for a week or so. And he still will end up in positive for what he would have paid anywhere else.

A friend indeed you are. Good for your friend and good on you for passing this on to your friend. Good karma is on its way.

You're a good friend to sell the boat to him for that! Impressed.

so what's a 2013 Alumacraft 185 competitor with a 150 merc, 9.9 kicker, 24v 101 pound minkota terrova, two scotty electric riggers, humminbrid 859 at the helm, bird 999si on the dash worth? Big motor has 35 hours on it and the kicker would MAYBE have double that. Ive been thinking of selling my boat for a couple years because I simply dont have time to use it anymore but Im having a real hard time deciding to list it lol.

I'd say 25-30k, right now. The older sonars hold it back a bit, but wouldn't surprise me if that was still near the 30 mark. If it was a tiller with newer sonar, I would be interested. Wife has her heart set on a Competitor tiller right now, but prices are just insane...

I would say you are safe starting it out around $50K (maybe list it for $49,900) and see where it goes. My guess is you could easily sell it in that range without too much trouble. Replacement is around $75K I think. So someone is getting a great deal for a low hour boat.

The price of that boat is 40% more new now that it was in 2018 why in the world would he do that? Likely get 10 grand more than he paid for it new

I've been watching the market closely the last year trying to decide when to pull the trigger on my next boat upgrade. I feel like the used market is still a bit high, but it has definitely come down a bit from the covid highs. I am having a hard time gauging where it is going to go in the next year. I still see people listing for top dollar, but those boats simply aren't selling.

There was a reasonable comparison posted local to me (SE Sask) last year. 2016 1875 crossover. Only 4 noticeable differences I see was it had a Merc, a single axle trailer and no top. But it did have a helix 12. Was listed at $60k and took about 4 months to sell.

I have a 2017 Tracker Targa V18WT, 150 Merc, 9.9 Pro-kicker full remote, Xi5 Motorguide 80lb w/sonar, gps, pinpoint gateway, NMEA2000 network, Lowrance Point 1, 2 Lowrance HDS Carbon 9, 1 on the dash and 1 at the stern, Elite 9Ti on the bow and a spare Elite 7Ti that can be used for backup for bow or stern, two Scotty Pro Pack electric downriggers, bimini w/half enclosure, sport package with extra flip seats and extendable rear deck(removed since new), rockgard on the trailer, 150 has 45 hours on it, 9.9 has around 125, stored indoors year round since new. Local dealer called me last year and said he had a guy wanting my boat after he saw it in there being winterized. Offered me $68,000. I said no. That is more than I have into for sure but to replace it with something equal in upgrades etc will cost me upwards of $90,000. I'll keep my boat even though it only see's water a few times each summer.
