To the OP, you're going to be welcomed at any tournament for two reasons. First off, the number of people doing tourneys is dwindling and several lakes and entire circuits have disappeared over the years due to lack of interest. I believe what was once the biggest tournament in Alberta (the Golden Walleye Classic on Lesser Slave Lake) wasn't even held last year. Secondly, the veterans are going to be happy to more than likely take your money and hopefully will at least be polite and offer some tips while doing it. There's a lot of luck involved in tournament fishing IMO. But the reality of it is the same "sticks" usually finish in the money.

In terms of Vantages, to say you have never seen one at a tournament down south really makes me wonder what you guys are doing down there?!? Even with a staple like bottom bouncing in less than 30 fow, you pull through some fish with your kicker or main outboard rumbling and I'll pull through with my silent Vantage behind you...that's easy money right there.

P.S. I cracked open my N.I.B. 36v 101lb thrust Vantage for my mapping boat back in 2021. Some things never change. Multiple new Vantages sitting on the shelf at home has been a staple of every hardcore tourney angler since they were released.

A Vantage is an advantage, and if you know, you know.

You’re looking at it the wrong way.

The fact that guys, LOTS of guys, are willing to go to these lengths to make sure they have a working Vantage on their boat should tell you all you need to know about just how valuable they think they are.

I believe the Vantage has been discontinued, so if you want one it may be a good idea to start looking now.

No word on what is going to replace them yet.
