Question Peep sight came out.

My son and I were shooting our bows today and the peep sight on my sons hoyt came out and seemed to damage the string, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Only broke a couple strands, will it matter?

Ya a pic would be good, and I've had a few peeps fly out in the past, now I serve them into the string, if the string is just a tad frayed less than 20% the string shouldn't have any problems, anymore than that will be fine for storage, but if you continue to shoot, could get worse. Cheaper to replace a string than a twisted limb or bent cam from spontaneous explosion.

My opinion from the picture, it's fine. Won't even effect it, if it's right where the peep was just twist into the string and tie peep in place. If it's below or above peep area just use some wax and twist it back in place. But if your really worried and you bring it in to get the peep reinstalled (just saying because lots of people do) just get string replaced, can't see it being more than 30$

...Just judging by the pic...The string is still serviceable...that is only one of the fiber bundles that make up a string strand ...there are many in a single strand...if an entire strand is damaged or broken then one is in trouble...

That bundle can be cut, end carefully burnt and weaved back into string...since peep should be tied in that will prevent it from further movement...low poundage wont put strain on string...

Its rare for a peep to jump out even when not serverd in due to moderen strings design with "Z" twist...

Unless the bow was very low poundage it may have been improperly installed...

* Have the peep installed with a press and tie it in...keep an eye on it..

NOTE:** We will get approx a half dozen bows this summer and during hunting season due to broken strings at peep...
A PEEP SHOULD BE INSTALLED USING A PRESS...
-most damage to string occurs with installation of peep NOT using a press...

For peace of mind if unsure... replace strings

Okay, after ordering a new string what does it cost to get it installed?

Pending on where you take it...some will rape you with installation costing more than the strings...we use Worlds Best Strings...installation is included in string price...we also spec tune the bow with installation...

Call around and get a couple quotes..
