Anyone else try the Spey's? Their Tenne is easily one of my new favorites. And easily one of the best bang for the buck bottles I've had yet.
Their 18 year is also very very good. Though it is a might bit more expensive.
I'm acquiring another bottle of Dark Origins and Royal Brackla this weekend which makes me very happy.
I do need another Kilochiman soon....

Costco also carries the 14 year Oban, and I have decided I prefer it to the Lagavullin...but they're all beauty!

Oban 14 used to be my go to regular. I still love it but a guy has to switch up now and again to keep the tastebuds guessing!

I like them both for different reasons. I have a few Ardbeg offerings. I am looking for the Kelpie as we speak!

My son got me a Kelpie for Christmas (and helped me drink it too!). It's a nice ardbeg, different though...think 'smoked trout'..in a good way. I think you'll like it.
As an aside, I've really been enjoying Irish whiskey lately, particularly the Teeling Single Malt. Highly recommend, and a good price point at around $60!

Hi there, I'm new to Scotch and finding I really like it, So far I've tried Glenmorangie 10, Tomatin 12, Ancnoc 12, Cardhu 12 and Highland Park 12. The only one I didn't like was the the Highland Park 12. The Cardhu 12 was by far my favourite. Can anyone recommend something similiar to the Cardhu to try ? Also we are going to Scotland for 2 weeks on May 20. Can't wait !!

I haven't had cardhu but from what I've read of it it's a nice entry to scotch dram being quite easy drinking with no peat smoke. If you're averse to that maybe try an auchentoshan 12, very drinkable.
When you're in Scotland buy yourself something you can't get back home. I brought back to Australia an old pulteney 17, glenfarclas 15 (my favourite whisky), and Springbank 10. I'd highly recommend Springbank 10 if you can acquire the taste for lightly peated whisky.

Scotch Tasting = Scotch Buying
I was fortunate to attend a scotch tasting event last night and tried 6 scotches that I haven't had the privilege of trying before. My usual is a Glenrothes that goes for about $50/bottle. Got to learn a few new things and have my taste buds treated to some amazing samples. My rankings from last night:
1) Tamdhu 10yr- All natural colors. So good I bought a bottle (~$70). My new favorite!
2) Highland Park 18 yr. Have had the 12 yr and would recommend it based soley on the price
3) Benraich- Single cask limited edition and availability, very good but a bit out of my price range.
4) Glenmorangie 10yr- Good all round scotch.
5) Laphroaig 1/4 Cask- Very peaty, the peatiest I have tried. I am not one to mix water with my scotch but I did with this one and really enjoyed it after I did.
6) Glenfarclas 15yr.- Not my favorite. Just could not acquire the taste.
If you are wanting to know more, slide down to Willow Park Liqour Store in Calgary in Willow Park. Ask for Will, the guy has incredible knowledge about all things scotch, whiskey, bourbon.

Interesting about the Glenfarclas 15. Have you tried the 17? Costco carries it and it is one of my favorites but a little too pricey to be anything other than a very rare treat.

Found a bottle a couple weeks ago and I must say, I love it!! Very heavy and deep, and the smoked fish at the end is fantastic (as odd as that may sound)! I am going to find another to keep in reserve...

Awesome! I knew you were going to like it, it is just funkie in a good way. I meant to post this up a while back, but on my birthday I went into the back of my cabinet and had a Top Shelf Whisky Night, because when the odometer ticks over...why not, and it was Friday? So this was my evening, in a well planned order. My wife had a glass of wine, and didn't mind me enjoying the day. I wish my son had been home to enjoy it with me...anyway. That was a fine fine tasting! You may notice the last two were poured fairly 'thick'!

Try the Glenmorangie offerings. They tend to be on the sweeter end of things with no peat. Nector d'Or in particular is always enjoyed by my friends who are not scotch guys. It is really wonderful! It's nickname is the Honey Pot.

What tirebob said....those will suit you I believe. Also, another that is a personal favorite is the 10 or 12 year old Aberlour. Lots of toffee, caramel, beeswax notes...no smoke or peat to trouble you. They are a great bargain at their price point I believe. I find they have a bit more character and complexity than the Glenmorangie, which is not to say anything negative about them at all.

International Whiskey Day March 27...
Hey my friends. Do not forget that today is "International Whiskey Day" Raise a glass (or more) of your favourite whiskey and thank our dear friends (and family) in Holland who created this annual event in 2008.
I will be enjoying a favourite of mine. What about you
ARDBEG UIGEADAIL
In 2009, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible named Ardbeg Uigeadail ‘World Whisky of the Year’ – in praise of its “utter silky brilliance” and “complexity on a level only a handful of distilleries in the world can even dream of reaching.”
Pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’, it’s a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. Ardbeg Uigeadail was voted by the 120,000+ strong Ardbeg Committee as their favourite Ardbeg.

Thanks for the reminder! And I concur, that is also my favorite of the Ardbeg offerings. What Jim Murray has to say about any whisky doesn't count anymore, since he said that the Crown Royal Northern Harvest was the best whiskey in the world a couple years back. His street cred is zero now...
