X2. That could be a tremendous help to the food banks if everyone did the same.

It is a good idea however an even better idea is to spend the $25 and give $25 cash to the food bank. They get far more spending the cash where they get the best deal at the wholesale level.

I think it is the same thing...the food bank will order what they need with the gift cards.

Any donation is great.
However $25 at a retailer is worth close to $25 in goods.
$25 cash at a wholesaler shopping smart they say can be worth 2-10X more in value.
We heard this at our fundraiser and volunteer event this fall. So you can use the $25 at SS...donate $25 cash and it is like you buying them $50-$250 in food. They can buy goods near end of shelf life or excess supply for dirt cheap from wholesalers. Users still get good food.

Does anyone know what the restrictions will be? Will they require proof of purchase or anything like that?

No - everyone buys bread! Here is how I read it. Price of bread has doubled between 2004 and 2015. For simplicity lets call it 1.25 to 2.50. Some of this increase is inflation, call it .50 cents. They screwed me out of a dollar a loaf. 2 loaves a week for 11 years is 1144 loaves @ 1.00 loaf = 1144.00.
And we are all excited over $25.00 ????
Class action.
We want more.

$25 Loblaw Card
It states that "we're offering eligible customers a $25 Loblaw Card."
It does not define what an eligible customer is. To me it sounds like a Phishing adventure to get some of your personal information beginning with your email address. This is just my opinion on this matter.

They don't need proof of purchase. Just clicking of a box to say that from 2002 at some point you bought bread.
I heard Soby's is offering a card as well to members.

Always a possibility. However likely your info has already been sold and you can always unsubscribe from email lists.

There's a beef that Loblaws is side-stepping a lawsuit, once you take the card you're out of the class-action list.

No they are not. Do some research before posting....
I just applied for my card and all it says is that you are free to participate in any class action lawsuits, however if you do, the $25 dollar amount you already claimed will be deducted from you class action amount awarded to you.

Applied for mine.
I wonder how it works with more than one person per house?
Can two people with the same address both get cards? and if so, how will they prevent people from creating multiple email addresses to get multiple cards?
It never said anything about that in the online form I filled out.

It better work. We weren't living together in 2002 so they should give us both a giftcard.

Sales will boom for them coming up. I was an ASM there for a while and could give out as many $25 gift cards as I wanted even the supervisors could. We knew if we gave yoy 25 you would be back and spend way more so we won. No different than the grocery freebie. Most buy way more than what they need to get an item that the store cost is low anyways and the vendor is also subsidizing. Buyer beware it is all with a reason you dont even hear about.
