Default Vac u flo died

My parents have a old Vac u Flo that died . Costco has A Husky Storm pkg for under $600. Would that system fit the old Vac U Flo.?

You will probably also need the accessory package that includes the outlets.

Depends on what died in the vacuum. Is it some faulty wiring or a bad switch in the hose? Can you turn on the unit by bridging the contacts where the 24v 'thermostat' sized wire connects to the canister? Is the breaker tripped?

You could always disconnect the unit and bring it to your local vacuum repair shop.

Sometimes the issue is the hose. That reminds me I should troubleshoot our own as there is an intermittent issue somewhere in the hose handle where the unit will turn off randomly when the loose wire (or whatever) breaks circuit continuity.

Dammit, now I have a chore and its all your fault......

You could have a new motor installed at a vac repair shop. Easy peasey and no plumbing modifications. A new unit is also easy to install but there might be some piping revisions depending on how the two units differ. It might be easily accomplished with a flex hose though.

When I bought my central vac I went to a vacuum shop and dressed as I am in my work uniform the fellow took me to the repair bench and showed me that most vacuums have one of 3 or 4 vacuum pump motors and which were the heaviest duty (higher amperage draw motor = more power, sturdy construction). I selected a unit that had the good motor/vac pump and off I went.

X2 we disconnected our canister and took it to the vacuum specialists on center st NW when our motor died. They replaced the motor for a lot less than a new system. That was 15 years ago and it's still going strong.

Or just buy another vacuflo and just hook it up. That’s what we did when we were doing renos and needed to move a couple of the pipes. Ended up upgrading to a whole new power unit at the same time. The new one works great, just like the old one which was still working fine and will again someday at the cabin.

There’s a store in Edmonton:

James Electric most likely has a replacement on the shelf. Spend 20 min and take it apart. You will be suprised at how simple a vacuum is.

Our Beam head burnt out and I took it to https://vacuumspecialists.com to match it up and buy a new one. He was appalled we were going to waste money on not repairing. He repaired for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend you take it there as often older units are just built better.

Even if you want a new one this one could be repaired and put in the garage for car cleaning jobs.

There is a vacuum repair shop on 130th SE beside the Keg. Great family run business and nice people.
