Sorry to hear this, when you mentioned it I had a few choice words.
Just wished the lakers were more active and the scumbags not!
Last year I met a few fellas from the forum, got them sorted out on the ice and we had gone back to pick up another guy at the PP, he mentioned a truck showed up, out jumped a few guys that where checking the back of trucks and door handles, got a big surprise to see him in his truck and they buggered off.
Wished your trip was more enjoyable, next time.

Wow....it bad enough when the fishing is tough and you have a lot of miles to put on.

I wish I could give you a led pipe and 15 minutes alone with the punk(s). This world is full of really weak people.

Good luck on the next outing.

Good thick ice, seeing 15-18 inches where I was seeing 12 inches last week, have not seen any overflow and what was is frozen but that being said be cautious out on any ice as it can change quickly.

A little drifting here and there’s but nothing to be too concerned about just keep your eyes open for a few ridges that now are snow covered as the wind blew them over with surface snow.

Hit one of those it might be a wake up call, knock the dentures out type deal

New additions to the laker assault tackle box.
Was at Boardwalk Bait and Tackle and these beauties caught my eye.
They seem to work on other bodies of water with lakers in them so thought I would give them a go!
Anyone else have luck with these types of lures for lakers?

Jigging raps catch everything. I haven't personally used them for lakers, but I did see a Wonderbread-colored W9 laying in the parking lot at the last laker lake I fished.

Sure glad I got out yesterday to those areas we talked about making it easy to locate because today it is snowing hard out.

Gonna make for a softer ride across the lake.

If you get a chance share some pics of your snowdog sounds like a neat machine.

Well had errands to run this morning but got out for a few hours in the afternoon.
Can’t complain, iced 18, lost a few, nothing over 28 inches but what a beauty day, plus temps, sun shinning, slight breeze.
Dead stick got nothing, 135fow, white tube with a minnow on it and a new lure I picked up, worked like a charm.

Great afternoon!

Had my first ice fishing trip to Cold Lake a couple weeks ago. Was also my first time targeting Lakers. Had a blast! I iced 18 over 3 days. Caught a few nice ones with the one in the pic measuring 32" even. Will definitely come again next year. I've enjoyed reading this thread all year so I thought it was time to contribute

Tight lines everyone.

Really nice fish you caught there! Even better releasing it back to get even bigger . Glad to see you had a successful trip, maybe have more luck next year.

Well was out on the ice three days ago for an afternoon sit, iced 18.
Not bad for a nice sit and relax not really trying just soaking in the sun.
The next day got out a bit earlier but as with any trip across the ice ran into a few people and got chatting which lead to a bit later start but once settled in had 10 iced in short order.
Now a few fellas from the forum and just all around great people in a group ice fishing adventure was poking around the lake. They eventually made there way to my location and set up too. Again in short order the fish were getting iced, a few double headers and a few lost but the company and the laughs made it for a great sit on the ice. Not sure what was iced on their end but I would say we never sat longer then 20-30 minutes without someone catching.
I believe the largest was 30 inches and many 25-29 inches.
Gear checking and getting ready for this upcoming week.
I won’t post pics of the others as I am not too sure how they feel about that but here is a few from me.

Gotta luv March on the lake!

I do believe you gave that to the fella you had as a passenger in your side by side?
He put a fish head on the belly hook and was catching with it.

Very curious on how the laker fishing later is in March. I am thinking it would be awfully nice to catch a few fish in the the nicer weather

Well, made it back from the other side of the province after a long drive yesterday. We only fished Cold Lake for about a day and a half, but spent our time time in relative peace on the north end of the lake. The structure on that lake is astounding...The Fingers, Hill 39, and on and on. We fished Friday afternoon with Greg (58thecat) up around Murray Island. He was landing a fish as we arrived and didn't slow down the entire afternoon. He was super helpful and willing to share his knowledge of the lake as always. A friend and I fished with him for the afternoon, while the others in our group had similar luck nearby. This was a "fun" trip, but I still wanted to catch a fish that would have put me in the top quartile of the recent derby. I managed to tickle 30" (76cm) which would have been good for 35th/243 in the derby, so I was more than happy with that and two other fish that were an inch behind as my biggest.

The baitfish in that lake are the real deal. I can see why the lakers are so prolific.

And I even managed a new desktop wallpaper out of the trip.

Where did you get the box topper for the ranger? Been looking for one but don't want to pay ridiculous shipping from US

Custom made by a sheet metal fabricator locally. If you need to ask the price it's probably too expensive. Think in the ballpark of a set of new tracks.
