Default Bear pond

Has anyone been to Bear pond for graylings in the last few years? Is it still good? Moved 5 years ago north of Airdrie and haven't been south of calgary since.

Thanks!

biologist said they should be about 10" by now. Plenty big enough for a fly rod If you go, post results!

I was up there 2 summers ago, and it was winter killed. Some other people were fishing and had been for hours and not a bite or anything. Had not been back since.

If someone posts results that it's fishing ok I'd definitely go, but i don't have the time right now to go down and try it myself only to get skunked... was up there this spring but the ice was still on

If you can find what greyling are keyed into it could be one of the best fishing days of your life......dont have anything they recognize and you will have a long slow day! lol
Some industrious soul in the canmore fly shop found that nymphs (kind of like a hares ear) with pink or purple on it does ok. Mosquito patterns and caddis have also produced for me in the past.

My best day ever at that pond was in June in the mid 90's using small black ant patterns (#14 - 16). I was fishing from a tube and got a hit every cast for over an hour.

Sweet....I will have to try an ant pattern next time I fish them.
Ants are one of those flies I rarely use and I dont know why. I guess its because I dont know when to use them.
