Dream trout destination?
Hey guys....seems like an odd question but if you could pick anywhere in Canada or mainland United states to fish for trout, where would it be?
I'm trying to stir up ideas! I have a passport, a desire to travel to fish, and I get good deals on flights.....that said, what should I be considering?
I always wanted to catch a lightning/palomino trout or whatever they're called.....lol I've heard great things!
The ever scarce golden trout in Alberta is on my hit list too!! (where else can I catch em outside of alberta that's more easily accessible?)
What would be on your bucket list?

Are all those lodges like 5 k a week? Wheres the best lake a person can go to without shelling out a small fortune for a lodge I wonder....lol
I want to do fortress lake but the price is a bit much for what it is. Yea it would be worth quite a bit but I dont think the value is there. Hiking in maybe!

If you want big trout and a mixed bag (brown, rainbow, brookie, tiger) without a guide go to Manitoba. Can camp or stay in cheap motels. Phil Rowley (fly fishing guru) says it's the best stillwater trout fishery in North America. Check out the FLIPPR website.
If you want scenery and big trout go to B.C. or Montana.
Cheers

I've grown an appreciation for some of the small, hike-in lakes in my own backyard. I'd like to get up to Rainy Ridge Lake and Grizzly Lake, both in the Castle region in SW Alberta.

Best bang for your buck is kootaney lake. A little leg work and time you can fish a week for roughly 2g +\-out side of travel cost.

Skeena River Steelhead are unreal, and can be done as a DIY trip.
Lake Trout on the fly up north are crazy as well (best done guided). I've heard amazing things about September fishing on Lake Athabasca.

Mongolia, Patagonia and Tasmania. But anywhere in Canada is pretty great, we're fortunate to have the opportunities that we do.

Canada is a dream destination of many people on this side of the world, met a lot of flyfishers here who dream of Canadian waters. We are very fortunate to have what we do in Canada!

England, Scotland and just poach (sneak and catch and release) off the rich buggers land .
Salmon fishing in Yemen... LOL
Seriously, I would like to go to New Zealand. A road trip through the Western US would be great.
With things as they are,I am debating a Western US trip right now. I have the summer off.

I'd like to hit another sedge hatch like I hit in 2004. I'd be happy with any lake that consistently produces 18"+ fish, mix of brookies and rainbows in that size range would be great. Other than that, I'd be happy to go back to QCI or Hakai and flyfish Coho.
