Default Regulation Change Steele (Cross) Lake

Due to summerkill, Steele (Cross) Lake in NB2 now has the following regulation:
-May 15 to Mar. 31 – Pike limit 0; Perch limit 0.

That is so strange, I was there on July 31, and did fairly well for pike. I heard that just 2 days later there was dead fish everywhere... Is summerkill the same as winterkill, a lack of oxygen in the water?

Pretty severe kill. Saw thousands of dead pike and perch walking a short distance from boat launch. Talked to a guy that indicated that there was a big blue green algae bloom the previous week. When I was there the water was clear so the blue green must've died, decomposed and consumed a ton of oxygen. Sigh........
