Default Alaskan fishing limits

I found this very interesting...their 2011 changes

NOAA and the Department of Alaska Fish and Game have just made some recent changes to the fish limits. I have listed below the fish limits for 2011.

2011 fishing limits:
King Salmon:1 per day (2 per day in May). Annual limit is 5.
Silver Salmon: 6 per day, no annual limit
Halibut: 1 per day, no annual limit (Maximum size of 37 inches)
Ling Cod:1 per day annual limit of 2, one between 30 and 35 inches and 1 over 55 inches. Catch and release only July 1 - August 15
Yellow Eye Rock Fish: 1 per day. Annual limit of one.
Black Rock Fish: 5 per day. No annual limit.

Slaughter fest on Coho this year. 6 a day unlimited limit.

Halibut is only one a day but over 5 days you could catch five.

The biggest surprise for me was the 5 annual limit for Chinooks.

Sockeye looks like 4 daily 4 possession

Alaska has area specific regs...

I knew about most of these numbers but the Ling Cod was most surprising...WCVI is seeing excellent numbers of Ling Cod with 3day/6 possession. Possibly due to overfishing in certain areas by all sectors, especially drag/trawl fleet that hammers the Pollock stocks hard including bycatch of Chinook and other species. Political situation..
