Default Duck hunting a certain lake?

Im starting out duck hunting this year and so far we have only done our land. How would i go about finding out if i can hunt the water on a certain public lake? Ive read the regs and it doesnt really give alot of info for a beginner. Ive heard some lakes close after nov 1? Any help would be great thanks

Dont open until Nov 1, Bow south of Calgary to Carseland I believe. Some lakes I know don't open until November is Blood Indian. they are listed in the regs:
http://albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/genregs.html

I just googled "rivers closed to waterfowl hunting" and this page came up. It is quite a way down page

Thanks for the reply, So any body of water not listed in the regs is open for hunting? That doesn't seem right?

It is open if not listed as far as I know. Unless, of course, the body of water is located in a conservation area, provincial park, etc. Remember that you can only use a "muscle-powered" floating device when hunting on open water or be anchored otherwise.

P.S. All our lakes have been long frozen

If you have a name of this lake you are implying about, that would make it easier to answer your question ! Waterfowl and lakes they roost on are common knowledge for anyone that hunts them.

^ lucky you. we have been covered in ice for about a month now, maybe a little less. Not rock solid but enough ice cover to get the birds down your way. Yet can't complain: probably the warmest fall in years

Ashland dam near warburg? Weird lake situation. Always allowed on it for fishing (stocked pond) but idk how hunting would work

As I'm not from this area, can't say for sure. If this is a resort, with a hotel, privately stocked, as it seems to be on the web site I looked at, I wouldn't be hunting on it.

I looked into it a bit more and it seems like Talisman Energy owns it.
