Default Pleasure craft operator card changes effective April 15.

Transport Canada has changed the rules in regards to getting the boat operating license effective today. The changes include a more comprehensive exam and a minimum 3 hrs study time. A more detailed description of the changes:

A few more questions, and 3 hours of study time. not a bad thing IMO plus now you can do it at home with no supervisor and its open book. Now all you boaters better watch out when I get my pontoon and my canoe screaming across the lake at terminal velocity, I will wave my card as I run you down!!!!

It is pretty easy to pass, it's their to make boaters aware of things they should know when they operating a water craft. It is overkill for people that will only ever operate an canoe or pontoon boat. Their is actually talk of a fish ID exam in alberta for obtaining a fishing license. Bet that would start a few new threads.

The operators card i took last year is still good though right? My buddy signed up to give me the exam, i took the test while i was at his place online? I thought i heard somewhere that this doesn't count anymore and that i'll have to take it again?

still counts, this new system started April 15 and even if you had paid the fee before April 15 but not taken it yet you need to do the new one. Open book now, a person would have to be pretty un-intelligent not to pass it with the answers in front of you. :

Default Amazed

I did testing and boat safety classes for a couple of years for an eastern

company ....I actually was amazed at the lack of knowledge , and myths

alberta boaters were all about ...

Every old fart who came in ****ing and moaning about being made to do this after 30, 40 , 50, years of driving aboat ; barely passed the test abnd a few failed ....It is likely the same on the board that " Your not makin me learn anything , notime never " is really old school. And you know ....

Theres no fool like an old fool.....
