An area of slow moving water that is deeper than other parts of the stream. Often created by a sharp turn or bend in the stream.
There are many different types of "pools". A pool can be as simple as a large rock that fish can hide behind to get out of fast current. It can also be as complex as a beaver pond.
Basically look for any slow moving patches of water the might be deeper or provide some refuge for fish. You kind of have to think like a fish, "If I were a fish would I be out in the middle, in the fast current? Or in that patch of dead water near shore created by erosion?"
Hopefully that helps.
