Default Odd flyrod targets

So I got bored a couple years ago after dragging walleye after walleye to shore and decided to try flyfishing for them. Im a rank amature with the girlyfish gear but I managed to do ok and really had a blast this year I want to try for some new species, specifically channel cats and big common carp. I know where to find them, got some on bait last year. Curious if anyone else has targeted these with flygear? Probably use some bait but it should be a whole new experience!

Common Carp shouldn’t be too difficult to catch with a fly, pretty common technique.

As for Channel Cats, since they have eyes near the top of their head, floating a grasshopper or imitation can be deadly. I’ve heard of guys using a bobber outfishing their partner using bait on the bottom 10:1

I've caught common carp on the fly lots, they can be pretty picky with fly selection but try small streamers and nymphs. Flashy if the water's murky and with no flash if the water's clear
