Default Fishing rod -Sales?

A little background is needed here. My kids (13, 10, & 7) love fishing with me. I always knew that, but a couple of days ago I picked my daughters (10 & 7) up a couple new reels that I got a smoking deal on. After unboxing it and giving it to them both the 10 year old stated that she needs a new rod (replacing her low end Shimano rig). I told her that she needed to buy it herself like her brother did. She went off to her room and came back 5 minutes later.

"I have $120 saved up" she said.

I replied "OK. How much do you want to spend on a rod?" Thinking she would say $30 or so.

"$110 but if you find a good one on sale I'll take that." was the reply.

So I am now on the hunt for a good deal on a good rod. Ideally a 1 piece, medium action, fast tip. She specified a cork grip too. Liked my G Loomis SJR-722 over any others with her mom's St Croix Premier as second.

Anyone know of a good deal on a rod that fits the bill? I'd like to get her one that makes her proud.

SS

Take her to the Sportsman Show next week and go to The Fishin Hole, they always have a rack of good and bad rods for 40% off. I was at the Calgary show and picked up 2 of last years Shimano Compres for under $100.

Also, at the Edmonton show you're likely to be able to go over to the rod manufacturers booth and get some free swag to go along with it.

Good idea. I'll be working the show actually so I'll check it out.

For $120 you can get a Fenwick HMG, I haven't used one but like the feel of them and feel they are a good value rod.

Not this weekend but next is the sportsman show. I know we(fishin hole) will have a few good discontinued rods there that should be very well priced as well as some other good ones at discounts(not sure how much though).

Default Fishing rod -Sales?

Bought a Fenwick HMG at CT for my son for Christmas for $60. Got my BIL one too.

If I found that deal now I would grab another one for my daughter.

A shimano compre is about that. Or as suggested an HMG by fenwick. Both excellent for the price.

Another thing to think about is carrot stix. She might like the orange and they'll likely have a booth at the show.
