Default Jiffy STX auger gear box question

The new Jiffys come with a plastic gear box, and somehow i managed to break mine last winter. Has anyone had to get a new one? I have a friend who is a machinist and he said he could make me one out of aluminium, has anyone had this done?

I'm not sure how old your Jiffy is but they come with a 2 year warranty on the gearbox.I think you get 1 year for the engine and 3 years worth of warranty on the blades.
Hopefully you still have some warranty left and its Jiffy's problem.

NHO.

does warranty cover it falling over while im in the ice shack, the pressure from it landing on the handle cracked the gear box.

I would try a phone call to Jiffy and see if they would do anything for you.
If not I think a custom aluminum job would look great!
