An update on the spear/atlatl ban proposal.

All proposed amendments to the Wildlife Act have been suspended for 2015.

So for at least this year, hunting with an spear/atlatl and pursuing elk on foot remains legal.

This does not mean that these weapons will remain legal after 2015 or that any further opportunity for consultation on the proposed changes will occur.

It is quite frustrating that after minimal consultation at the AGMAG meetings the actual wording of proposed Wildlife Act changes was not made available to the public. With these kind of legal amendments, the devil is in the details. It sure would be nice if ESRD would make Wildlife Act and Wildlife Regulation changes public information before sending them to the legislative committee. Since we still don't know what changes the government has in store, I have asked for a copy of the wildlife act amendments draft and will pass on what I learn.

Very nice and thanks so much for this report!
I'm glad it remains a legal hunting practice for now.

Thank you for the update, you just made my day.

Looking forward to hearing what the draft has in store.

Thanks for the update WB

Transparency is something we all hope for, but murky waters seems to be what we should expect.

Keep us posted!

The NDP are considering allowing spears and atlatls to be used in what was once known as the "Archery Only" season.

Yes, I heard the same thing. They are going to be defined as primitive weapons that are powered by human power only. (same as bows) Can't wait.

There are better choices. Use a bucket of rocks. Just like using a compound bow is a much better choice than using a traditional bow.

Just my opinion.

Sounds good I'll take that into consideration but I really want to use ice because it's different....

Glad to see you have taken a liking to the compound bow . See you at the next ABA meeting.

There isnt one point on that list that even comes close to being a valid reason. Those 5 points are nothing more than you own opinion. Kinda makes ya sound stupid.

Well, based on the OP, I'll agree with him.
