Default Is hydrogen the future?

Interesting article on hydrogen. Might be worth investigating and researching to make a modest investment into.

Hydrogen main production is from natural gas steam reforming. Very costly and hydrogen needs to be pipelined, not easy over long distances. Just burn natural gas in your pickup almost as green as hydrogen and technology has been around for many years.

I’ve thought for decades that nat gas conversions would be neat because most people already have a pipeline to their homes, they’d merely need a compressor station installed to liquefy it (not sure how much electricity that would consume though, obviously it would be factor). The nat gas engine would be lower on power but that’s the price of economy.

Sounds good, if you say it real quick, but hydrogen is a nasty gas, NO 1 on the periodic chart, The molecules are so small, it's difficult to contain, the molecules just slip out among the larger ones and leaks can be catastrophic. That and it will take vast amounts of electricity to produce. Where is that gonna come from ? Then there is the climate factor. Nice in sunny California, but imagine driving down a foggy Edmonton street in the ice fog created by H+ 0=H20.
