Hopefully we see another thread with this breakdown.
Seems like a great bullet for the trusty ol aught six and not often discussed.
Different rifle than the one running 168 Barnes?

I loaded 30 rounds of 80gr Berger flat base varmint, to try out in a .243, going to try H4831sc and CCI 200s.

I picked a low/mid charge from the berger data to start, paired with a range of seating depths.

Shortly after finishing I remembered that I wanted to do single rounds with different charges, in a ladder of sorts, to start the development. Dang.

Whew, I was busy today. Well...it started yesterday.

228 cases in the wet tumbler for 2 hours.

Then, on the drying tray for another couple of hours.

First I loaded 5 cases of range pick-up 6.5CM. Then I started in on the first hundred cases of .44mag. First, sizing to bring them back to spec. Then, trimming. A crucial step that shows up later in the loading process. (Is that gold dust?)

Priming is next. I use my Co-Ax press to prime with. I’ve used hand primers before. But when one failed on me the night before a competition, I decided to try the press. And I haven’t looked back since.

Charge the cases. Self-explanatory.

Then, time to flare the opening of the cases to accept the bullets for seating.

Seating the bullet is next. OAL should be 1.6010”.

And finally, crimping the neck so the bullet doesn’t move in the case. Crimping is why the case length is so important.

While my passion is extreme distance shooting with bottle neck cases, I have come to really enjoy loading straight walled cased cartridges like the pistol calibers for lever action rifles. With a new rifle and new caliber arriving this week, I’m really looking forward to rolling up some 45-70’s over the holidays.

A new (to me) purchase, Kimber Montana in 7mm-08 inspired me to unpack my reloading boxes. Even found some old Nosler brass for it.
Just need to iron out placement and flow of the reloading bench in my new home in Calgary.
Looking forward to reloading more in 2021!

Loaded up a bunch yesterday for my 45/70. I was having trouble getting a good group with the factory hornady stuff and light trailboss loads. I adjusted a bit on how I hold a lever action and tried some reloader 7... I am happy!

Of course I am going to play with it a bit just because... but so far very happy.

5 shot group using my backpack as a rest because that's all I had out there.

I am just started to work up a lighter load. I dont need to break my shoulder firing, i figure if it killed buffalo it should be good for everything here...

That was
40.0 reloader 7
Starline brass
Campro 405 bullet
Fed large rifle regular primers

39.0, 39.5 all grouped very close to this as well.

A couple of complimentary parcels from Bighorn Sales and a dummy round. Good times ahead!

I just went through my upland gear bag, and dug out all of the 28 gauge hulls to load. As is normal, every hull had accumulated bird feathers while sitting in my game bag. I also had a look at my empty 28 and 410 shotshell hulls, and I estimate I have about 4000 to load. After Christmas, I need to spend about eight loading sessions to get these loaded. A couple of days per week for a month, and I will be done.

I put away my powder purchase from Prophet River. Then with the dies I got from them and Grand Slam started to form some 358 Norma brass. I am to cheap to buy Norma brass so I am resizing 338 win Mag brass. I necked them up to 375 and then ran them through a 358 Norma full length die. Now I have a reason to get the 358 Norma barrel put on my 338.

Christmas Eve Morning 8:53am. So far have cleaned 7-08 and 308 Kimbers, cleaned receivers and retorqued bedding, cleaned 30-06 and 6.5 model 70's, loaded 20 rounds for each rifle last night. Thinking I might load some 270win and take one of them to the range too. Not many warm days this time of year and not likely to be busy at the range later today so it should be good.

Last night I put together a .308 rifle with some extra parts I had. Should be a great rifle for 600m and under, I cut the barrel to 18” and re crowned it. Also made a kydex cheek rise and got that all bolted on. Gonna relod some 178 gr hornady eld m and see if I can find a velocity node to start at.

Hope you had a good day

We took advantage of the warm weather and burned up a bunch of ammo today. The cycle continues LOL. The loaded stuff does not seem to last too log around here.

Now we are just waiting for Santa to come ... hopefully he brings powder!!

Out today doing some long range plinking and get a little bit of 80gr VLD therapy with my precision .223 build. I hadn’t shot it since my birthday in May. Just 7 misses out of 100 shots onto a 6” plate at 500m. It’s the gun with no recoil. A laser beam.

Anyways...back home to de-cap, tumble, dry, size, trim (actually none of them needed trimming), prime, charge, and seat. I got up to the charging step. I’ll continue in the morning. I have such a great load. Not only is it deadly accurate to a kilometre, but it’s easy on the rifle and brass. This batch of a hundred cases has now been fired 15 times and still has tight primer pockets. I love Lapua cases.

I pressed some 22-250 rounds tonight for my wife’s rifle, we’re planning on shooting shotguns and varmint rifles tomorrow. I also did a good cleansing and got rid of a bunch of boxes I’ve boarded from parts and accessories. Also organized my one shelf I store bullets and reloading components on, have it divided for handgun ammo and components. Rifle components and ammo, then carbine rifle ammo and components.

I'll be heading in shortly to load some 155 308 and some 108 6mmmBR for my irons rifles for tomorrow, supposed to be nice so I'll be able to sling up in relative comfort!

I’m loading up a small batch of offhand practice ammo. This may sound stupid, but I love the AMP for small batches. Just plug and play.
