Default my first Sturgeon nsr today "pics"

was fishing for suckers today hooked my first sturgeon awesome fight too me up current a few time then would turn around and jump did this 3 or 4 times

good thing i use 30 lb mono and 20 lb braid

i am a forum member shawn here is better pics

thats one of the bigger ones i have seen for the n.s.r great catch man, i still yet to catch a sturgeon as i am usually fishing for walleye but i might change things up a bit lol.

Great fish thanks for sharing. But, watch that sand in the reel lol! I ruined one last year for that reason. Now I have a rod holder to set it into while shore fishing.

it was caught left side of the outfall down 20 feet where the suckers always jump

that is one nice fish. I see it was not tagged. thats great to see. Did you do any measurements? did it come out of any of the reguler sturgeon holes?

Way to go NSRfishing! Congrats! They sure are fun to bring in eh!

Poorturtle and fellow sturg hunters - On average how often do you guys see a tagged sturg just outta curiousity? (Not to hijack this thread)
I'd say 1 outta every 40-50ish sturg I have seen caught have tags. Very rarely anyway. I reckon it's a good sign they are reproducing nicely. I see a ton of babies being caught too.

I was wondering if SRD was planning to do another study/report to identify progress on their protection in the river.... I'd like to find out more on how well they're recovering

i did not get any measurements i have been fishing this hole since ice out never seen a sturgeon caught the hole changed after the flood was nothing but walleye before the flood now i catch nothing but suckers
