Default Is the NSR even fishable like this?

I see the river is about 1 meter higher then 2 days ago!! on top of this it is very muddy with visibility at like an inch if that. One of my spots is COMPLETELY under water, cant even get to the shore the water is a foot into the path! let me know if any of you guys have luck today!

You are looking at a combination of 150mm of rain (6 inches in the old days) plus the snow pack melting. Bad combination at this time of the year. The debris you see floating along is a result of the high water washing away river banks.... when the water is this high you never know what you might see....

I have gone out for hours without catching anything, but when you know your chances are slim to none its not really fun, a p-rig with a 4 ounce weight gets tossed around like nothing, a jig was getting caught up with lots of debris, having to clean the line every cast, the water has a visibility of basically 0, i knew my chances are very slim, between everyone there, there was about 9 fishing hours between everyone (while i was there though ppl were there longer) and no one caught a thing. this had nothing to do with me giving up easy and everything to do with the river is simply not fishable at that location right now.

anyone who has been to this spot can see how high it is right now! and i hear the river is going to rise even more. thats a 50ish foot tree floating by, imagine not paying attention and getting your line from your p-rig caught up on that!

I had no problem hooking into some suckers this morning, then moved spots just after 6am and caught 3 walleye and lost a few more.

Try using flashy type spinners and spoons. Talk to people who have fished in manitoba, there are lots of muddy rivers and creeks there. Also to avoid floating trees and other stuff fish in the creeks instead of the main river. Just some ideas to try and help out.

The Peace is high and muddy too. It's the normal cycle around here.
The old timers called it the June Flood. It happens every year on the Peace.

For us, this is the best fishing of the year. The fish are moving up river to spawn and they are hungry.

We find that here, bait is essential at this time of year. good red meat is first choice. One favourite is chicken gizzard, but any red meat will do.

Smelt or parts from a fish you have already caught will work too, but not as well, in my experience.
Worms and Grasshoppers are next to useless in these waters.

Next thing we do is hit the mouths of the feeder creeks. The high water creates a hole at the mouth of many of these streams. There the water is usually much cleaner, high oxygen content and warmer, with no current.
Fish, tired of fighting the current pull into these places to rest and feed.

If no feeder creeks are in your area, work the back eddies. They are not as good, but do hold fish looking to take a rest from the strong current.

No they weren't. One stayed down near where the water is now, and the other was still chained to the sign, before somebody stole the sign.

Pretty sure I have pics of it on my laptop

not on the peace you dont. the peace gets VERY muddy. need bait and if your bait isnt dead still for the fish to hone in on, you wont catch fish.
