Drove in to the lake on fri. Ap. 2. The lake was still froze with a couple of feet of surface water around the edge open. Outflow will be the first to open in about a week I would guess.

I have never seen it winterkill at Severns but the fishing can be tough if the water is dirty.

Alum treatments are cost effective and have long term beneficial effects i don't know why the government doesn't do these treatments on any lakes. They do it in the states to stop winterkills.

Severn is too deep to winter kill. Not easy to fish there in winter.
Travers and Mcgregor most definitely winter killed. 90-95% of fish are gone, so I wouldn't worry about fishing any of these lakes anymore.

mc gregor and travers are mutch deeper than sev will ever be so if theyre winter killed then sev is most definetly killed off
plus travers is much bigger with clearer water as the algae blooms arent so big

I concur - severe winter kill in Mac and Travers. It looks like Eagle is the hot spot for this summer.

Eagle is the hot spot every summer, just remember no open flames within 1/2 mile of the lake, and dont forget your noseplugs. Almost as bad as sharing an ice fishing tent with JTS1!!!

Have you guys seen dead fish under the ice in Travers, Bigmac and Newell? If these lakes winterkilled there won't be many options for fishing down south.

Yes, has anyone actually seen evidence of winterkill at these lakes?
I'm having a hard time believing any of this.

I was out at newell in the middle of march and we were catching fish, I have a hard time seeing how those big deep lakes like mcgregor and travers winterkilling, that sort of thing normally happens in smaller shallow lakes does it not?
