Red face Spininng on the Bow.

Recently I posted a question on what were some good fly fishing techniques on the Bow around the Cochrane area. I received some excellent advise. Thank you all for that!! Now my wife has decided she wants to try it there too, but she only uses a spinning rod. What would be a couple of lures she can tie on and maybe have some luck. Again, we'll be fishing at Cochrane. Thanks very much for your help and advise! We really appeiciate it. Good luck to all!

Do not use bait without checking your regs!!

When I used to spin fish on the Bow, I caught a few nice Browns on Buzz-bombs.

For spinners: best is panther martin (yellow body with red dots and silver blade was favorite) then mepps (black fury is good)

For spoons i like small to medium plain silver
I used to scrape the paint off an old red and white or similar

Also rapalas should work...something like these:

If none of those work try rubber tailed jigs tho im not sure of specific kinds

Also she can fly fish with the spincaster:

1 foot dropper 2 or 3 feet up from end of line where you tie a rubber band to which you attach piece of branch or small stone depending on if fishing wet or dry

Great choice. Also try small white buzz bombs April May in deep slow pools.

Foxee Minnowspins, brown trout and especially rainbow trout pattern if you can find any, I caught a lot of trout in the Bow on them. Panther martins are also good. If she wants to use your flies, a clear teardrop bobber with a few feet of line to the fly also works well.

Smile Mepps!!!

On opening day a few years ago, many really years ago, the water was Gin clear and I caught 33 rainbow while paddling boy scouts! Anything that will flash and is light. A panther Martin worked too.

I help a 12 yr. boy beach the biggest brown trout I've ever seen at Policeman's flats, he was using borrowed equipment and a medium red devil.

I guess the secret is keeping your line in the water!

Have fun, tight lines!

I've had my best luck with only a few types of hooks : Brown trout pattern panther martin, size 5 and 7 x-raps in rainbow, clown, and black/silver, and black/chrome flash rap. If you can find a slow and deep enough hole to use one, hot-n-tots work really well also
oh, and this is talking about rainbow trout, only thing i've ever caught out of the bow, besides lots and lots of Didymo....

As others have mentioned for spinners, Panther Martins and Mepps are good, but I personally prefer the Blue Fox spinners. Have been using them basically since I knew how to cast a spinning rod, and have never had a complaint about them.
