This thread usually goes nowhere. lol. lots of threads started with not much answers. Anyhow, Ive been there 3 times in the winter hoping for open water and all 3 times the canal has been shut down. twice there has been a half inch of ice so open water was out of the question. I tried on the main part of the canal/lake part near the end of the canal ice fising once, with no success. I was in just to deep of water icefishing and it was a long walk to the other side where the trees were poking out of the water. I think the trick to this system is to be there when the canal is turned on, and just cast near the bridge with pike lures. Anyhow this is all i know about it. hope it helps.
