River probably rose about a foot during the time I was there today (about 5 hours) and isn't showing any sign of slowing down. As it rises there's getting to be a lot more debris being picked off the shores and carried downstream. Might be doing a little trout fishing or something for a couple days til she drops again

Emergency crews are advising Edmontonians to stay away from the North Saskatchewan River, as rainy conditions cause water levels to continue to rise – and cause minor mayhem on the edge of the river.

A handful of dragon boats and a dock broke away from shore in swift currents Saturday morning.

It's believed no people were on the boats or dock when they were swept downstream. The boats were found and retrieved a short time later.

This incident is only an example of how fast the river is moving, it's estimated to be moving twice or three times faster than normal.

"The flow is extremely high right now," Captain Randy Shakura told CTV News Saturday. "There is a lot of debris in the water, it's very unsafe and we are encouraging people to stay away from the river at this time."

Although water levels are rising, there are no flood warnings or watches posted for the North Saskatchewan River.

I was so dissapointed last night dropping off kids with time to fish, only to see the river as it is. This time last year I have it recorded that it was at normal height with a couple feet visability. It will be mid July before it gets to that stage.

the eye of this system has remained quite consistent and has moved very little. whats not good is whats kicking up stateside,, there is literally a shelf of 100f and 75f stretching eas to west. This is the longest lasting early April in ages;
