not looking great for the next few days with the rain then warm weather forecast. Probably best bet for clear water is above AthaB falls.

as others have said fish where clean water is running in or backwater /eddies

I have fished in the National Park this time of year but have fish the Athabasca all year in spots

what to use depends of course on what you are fishing for

if you are looking for Bulls then yes Imitations minnows or leach patterns

if you are looking for Rockys then nymphs or flys will work .. a Chronamid with a indicator will also catch them or your sinking tip with a terrestrial fly

For your Rainbows there are lots of flys of course,,, any of the above... to most of my fly box;;;

have a fun time

I almost never fish north of Red Deer. How plentiful are the rockies in Athabasca? Do they spawn in the main channel of the Athabasca?

scel here is my answer

yes too lots of Rockys in the Athabasca they are in Jasper all the way to were the Macleod runs in near Whitecourt .. Berlin river where it runs in is good in fall too.. just you can't keep any this year because of the Obed spill in ES3

in the Park Jasper you can keep

Thanks everyone! I was thinking of using a sinking leader and streamers. Will let you know how it goes!

Got a few pike right bye the willow creek road bridge yesterday. Got them on a leech pattern. Water was high but not muddy. First two pike on the fly rod as well. The second one I got wasn't to bad of fish. Never caught one around here before around the hinton area. Great couple of hours though.
