Default Jigging Jaw jacker spring

Do you have to use the spring in this thing ? Not a very good set up as for the spring staying there and not getting lost. Gonna mostly use it for perch with a 18" to 22" shorter light rod.

Optional. Maybe a bit more quiet with it in place. I still keep my on but it is a poor design. I know Brandon didn't have his on for a while yet...didn't seem to impact the fishing

On the standard JJ, yes.

On the jigging JJ, no. I've put in maybe 4-5 hours tops with the jigging JJ. Used the slowest jigging wheel. No luck yet. Caught whites on the rod I was holding while the JJ jigged away.
