Default Wabamun Ice - Seba Beach

Hi Everyone,

Heading out Jan 1, 2, 3 to Seba Beach ... how's the ice looking?

Reading the Pigeon threads, looks sketchy for driving on.

Thanks

Northern

If Seba is anything similar to the town site ice conditions I definitely wouldnt be driving anything bigger than a quad on right now. Maybe 8" of good ice where we were yesterday from the Wab boat launch

I was out on the lake, yesterday, with the Wabamun Watershed Management Council, sampling lake water at several locations, testing oxygen levels, temperatures, etc. at various depths. We drilled holes and found the ice to be as little as 8" deep at some places and up to 12" at others. Definitely too risky for a highway vehicle, although we did see some vehicle tracks.

People are getting brave near Wabamun town. Saw a 1/2 dozen vehicles on the ice, including a couple 3/4 ton trucks loaded up.

I measured ice depth to be 13” of good ice. Fishing was slow. Two missed flags and a small pike landed. Then again, I’m no pro, and was chasing kids around most of the time.

Was at the town site today, maybe 12 inches at one hole and barely 8 inches 20’yards away. Lots of flood water. When we first arrived there was one truck on the ice, when we left there was at least a dozen. Pretty scary in my opinion. Landed 4 small pike and missed one flag. Slow day.
