Default Quick bite on the tip up

Went out yesterday for a couple hours of fishing, setting up the first tip up . Go to drop the bait down into the water and I never even got it 5 feet down and wham a 17 pounder nailed it

I find that it happens to me quite a bit as they will strike as the smelt is dropping. That is why every 10-15 minutes I will pull to the top of the hole and slowly let it drop again

Nice Pike!!! That looks like a Sask lake to me. Man I miss those lakes for the Pike fishing. I did make it back for a day of tip-up fishing with the old man last March. And caught a few. That has happened to me probably half a dozen times trying to set depth and next thing you know the line is ripped out of your hands and a Pike has your smelt in his mouth and is swimming off with it until you get that line back and set the hook. Makes you feel good about the spot you’ve picked.

Oh for sure ! Yes it is a sask lake. Pasqua to be exact, we’ve been pulling out some good pike and a lot of walleye . My buddy pulled this walleye out of the same spot a couple weeks back

For me it's coffee. Pour one out of the thermos and two sips later - bam.

That walleye about this one is a beaut! I have never seen one that nice in person.
