There are perch in Glenmore I never fish for them but you can see schools of young ones by the overpass ( haven't been there since the new construction though) I started seeing them and finding them in pike stomachs around 30 years ago

Just checked the regs and they say the perch limit is 15, so I guess maybe they are there, but I do not know for sure.

I've only ever caught Pike and the odd Rainbow out of there. Mostly from the canoe club access.

Behind the shopping center see the weed beds, very visible right now, worms and bobbers keep the kids laughing. There are some dandies in there.

I can guarantee there are perch in there as I caught one. Don't think they are infested in there though as I've only caught one. I suspect the other pred's are keeping numbers down.

The time I usually hit the Res for Perch is usually late June-mid July. Just the the Weed beds are beginning to emerge. Slip bobbers with small Leeches were the ticket and Perch were averaging 9"-12". Largest I seen a few years back was a 13-14" that someone caught earlier in the day and kepted it in a Ice Cream pail. It was a nice Humpty
Take a walk down on the Sailboat docks on the East side of the Res. In about 1-6ft of water, you should see schools the small Perch roaming around.
If you got a Canoe or a Tinney with Oars, you can do some recon and find some of the places that the Jumbo's are hanging out at.
Unfortunately these waters are not only governed by Provincial Regulations but also by City Of Calgary By-Laws..... (No motors, No Ice fishing, etc)

Ok! So I packed up the girlie and a bag of bobbers and worms and headed behind the mall, looking for the weeds. I have sailed on the Glen when I was younger and I remember there being weed beds galore there.

Not that I could find any yesterday!

We did not get a bite in a few different locations in that bay. No weeds to be seen though.

I do know where there are weeds, and where a perch imitation does wonders on the jacks in there when retrieved medium speed above the weed line.
I think I will head to where I know there are weeds this weekend and give the slip bobber a shot again. I will keep yall posted on how that goes.

I had speculated that there were perch in there, but in previous posts people have written that there are none in there.... Glad to hear they are!

How are the burbot in the Glen this time of year?? anyone pulled any out recently??

I am still trying to catch my first burbot! what an adventure thats been!! Would like to hook into one....soon!

If you want to catch burbot the best time is right before the ice in end of october, november, december depending on the weather and how cold it is. Give crawling valley a try that is where I go to catch burbot. I do not think that there are any burbot in the Glenmore res but I may be wrong.

It's been a few years, but we always caught our perch just off the Calgary Rowing Club dock. We would rent one of their canoes, and fish. Used small trout spinners mainly.

Pine Coulee was pretty productive after dark last week for Burbot. Between myself and a friend we pulled in 6 burbot and a pike over 2 hours in the night. The Burbot are little ones though averaging 40cm. Not sure if there are larger ones in there but the walleye are fierce in there and were stealing all our bait until about 30 min after it got real dark. The walleye did provide some fun during the dusk though

Years ago I actually pulled out a huge Burbot out of the bow just below Bearspaw dam. I'm still wondering if there's Burbot in the dam itself and how to get there after dark.
